Serengeti National Park covers an area of 14, 763 square kilometres, and is known as Tanzania’s largest and most famous national park. Its vast land area reaches over to the smaller Massai Mara to the north of Kenya. It is here that you can get a glimpse of what the area must have looked like before human civilisation counteracted the area. This beautiful National Park stretches along from the highland plateau of the Ngorongoro in the South to the mountainous slopes of Isuria in the north. The park reaches through to Lake Victoria to the west, as in the form of a wide corridor. The altitude of the park varies from 920 and 1850 metres above sea level.

The park covers an area of great diversity in nature, from its wild grass plains that reach the south, acacia savannah in the central region, hills to the north that are dense and a vast woodland area in the west that consequently overlooks the plains. The scenery from this park is breathtaking, there is a variety of plains with rivers and lakes that arouses a sense of infinite wilderness. The early mornings contrast a picturesque scenery of the deep, highland plains, and then shadow its beauty again in the evening. Serengeti has a large migration of herbivores as the land changes from a rich fertile land to a desolate wilderness, depending on the seasons.

In order to really experience Serengeti to its full potential, the best seasons to visit the park are from December to February, and May to July. To capture the natural beauty of the surrounding wildlife, early mornings and evenings are when it is best, as the animals tend to rest in the shade during the day.
