Tarangire Sopa Lodge is located on the eastern side of the Tarangire River across from the Tarangire Hill. The Tarangire National Park is 120 km from Arusha by road, and is one of Tanzania's most easily accessible conservation areas.

Opened in 1995, the lodge can accommodate 160 guests in 75 suites, and has wall to wall carpeting, a private lounge with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third.

An ensuite bathroom with shaver sockets and a hair dryer, and a private verandah which offers stunning views over the baobab studded landscape. Polished marble floors and full air conditioning creates a wonderfully cool atmosphere compared to the afternoon heat

Tarangire Sopa Lodge has direct dial satellite telephone facilities as well as satellite television and wildlife video film options. A number of lodge electrical generating systems provide 240 volts twenty four hours a day.

The unique swimming pool, which is located at the edge of a rocky gorge has its own bar and snack kitchen, and offers a refreshing interlude between game drives.

Only the lightest of clothes are recommended, although a light sweater might be needed for early mornings and evenings. The atmosphere of Tarangire Sopa Lodge might encourage guests to wear more formal attire in the evenings while swimwear is needed by the pool.

The park is host to a number of rarely seen species of wildlife including eland, Oryx, kudu and gerenuk. Another specialty is tree climbing pythons and some 3,500 resident elephants. Tarangire also has the highest number of recorded bird species for any habitat in the world.

Tarangire Sopa Lodge is 30 km from the park entrance gate, and then about an hour's drive through an area rich in wildlife. The alternative is a 20 minute chartered flight from Arusha followed by a 45 minute drive through plentiful wildlife, to the lodge.

The park is 2,600 sq. km area of remarkable beauty and rewarding game drives, it lies on the traditional migration route of several species of wildlife.

With an altitude of 1,100 meters the lodge enjoys warm weather for most of the year. Seasonal rains in November and December, and between April and June bring new growth to the otherwise dry plains and Savannah.
